The novel was published in 1925, in the optimistic and cheerful heart of the era of jazz, in which "a hundred pairs of shoes of silver and gold raised a luminous powder". Desolate, ironic, poetic, cruel, tender and beautiful to make frivolity and huge glasses of doctor T.J. Eckleburg tragic two referents of contemporary life. At the age of twenty-five he was already a successful writer and, however, was left to devour by the euphoria of the time which had to live, their world, their dreams.
