The Army barasileño find the bodies of victims of the first Airbus

The Brazilian navy has rescued the first two bodies of victims of the Air France plane and the remains of the aircraft that sank last Sunday in the middle of the Atlantic with 228 people aboard. Specifically, these are two men, still unidentified, and in addition to objects which are presumed to belong to the aircraft as a seat of the same color blue used by the French company.

Colonel Jorge Amaral said that “during the morning, on this Saturday, at 08.14 local time (quarter past twelve noon in Spain), there was confirmation of the rescue at sea and some remains of bodies belonging to the Airbus “of the French airline. The military spokesman said the remains of the seat of the same color blue used by the French company, have the serial number 237011038331-0. According to Amaral, the serial number has been transferred to Air France in order to confirm that belongs to Airbus who disappeared in mid-Atlantic.

Moreover, one of the victims, who identified himself as Marco Tulio Moreno, told the television channel Globonews have also been collected at sea in a leather portfolio with an Air France ticket and a backpack, which was presume that also belonged to some of the passengers.

Searches were concentrated around a radius of 220 km route from a point where it can be presumed to have fallen on to Airbus started last Sunday in Rio de Janeiro bound for Paris with 228 people aboard…

Brazil Air Force confirmed that 2 bodies and plane parts were collected from Atlantic Ocean today in the morning as follows:

– 2 males bodies, one collected at 9h30 and another at 11h13 (Brasilia time);

– 1 suitcase containing an airline ticket of AF447;

Cv_Caboclo_(V19)– 1 backpack with a vaccination card;

– 1 aircraft seat with serial number belonging to AF A330;

– 1 1 suitcase with personal belongings.

Saturday’s Sequence of Events:

1.) 0300LT/06062009 Brazilian AF R-99B 6751 departed from SBFN to scour the debris field originally plotted early last Tuesday morning (02JUN2009), in which a passenger seat and a 7-meter long component were later visually sighted by one of the C-130Hs.

2.) 0814LT/06062009 Two bodies were visually plotted inside the search area

3.) 0930LT/06062009 The first body (male) was retrieved

4.) 1113LT/06062009 The second body (male) was retrieved

5.) 1200LT/06062009 A knapsack was retrieved, along with other smaller personal items

The aircraft had totalled 18,870 flight hours and went into service on 18 April 2005.

Its last maintenance check in the hangar took place on 16 April 2009.

The flight captain had a record of 11,000 flight hours and had already flown 1,700 hours on Airbus A330/A340s.

Of the two first officers, one had flown 3,000 flight hours (800 of which on the Airbus A330/A340) and the other 6,600 (2,600 on the Airbus A330/A340).
