I thought the California missile mystery had been finally put to rest until Glen Beck now knows this was not not an airplane, but rather a two stage missile.  I have never been a Glen Beck fan because I believe he is over the top on most issues however he has lost all credibility.

Anyone with common sense can clearly conclude this is simply a contrail from Flight UPS 902 as proven without a doubt by the Contrail Science website.  I was initially skeptical due to the lack of a time stamp of the actual video and when I saw the above LAX webcam photo it was clear the contrail could not be Flight AWE808 because this flight was over the coast at 5:06 PST.

To my knowledge, the full unedited video with time stamp or Sky2 chopper coordinates, altitude and precise direction of the camera have not been provided by CBS.  Why not?

A poster (TXnMA) on the Free Republic website took the time to actually go through the available video clips and believes that CBS has cherry picked the video clips and intentionally scrambled the chronological order of the clips in order to confuse viewers.  With permission from Freeper TXnMA, I have posted that analysis below.

First, the details of Flight UPS902 including the Google Earth flight path showing applicable time stamps as well as the UY video  are shown below and for additional proof, please review the Long Beach Rick Warren photos as originally posted on the Contrail Science website.

NOTE: The small numbers at lower right in each frame are the seconds into the 40-second video.

NOTE: The large numbers (1) through (6) represent the frame order in actual flight sequence.

Initial Observations

  • First off, it is apparent that the entire video is composed of only three (3) short video clips:
    • Frame (1) zoomed to (2)
    • Frames (3) — (4)
    • Frame (5) zoomed to (6)
  • The clips are arranged in two (2) near-identical sections — repeated in series.
  • The first frame (5) is inserted again in the middle of each series — apparently to obscure the fact that clip 3-4 is shown before clip 1-2.
  • The clip that is shown first is actually the very last to occur in real flight time.

It can only be concluded that the “cherry-picking” of video clips, and the scrambling of their order in time by CBS was done to confuse the viewer.

Notice CBS’ video presented  (with interruptions) in nearly reverse order. Why?

Determination of Flight Sequence

It was determined that the plume/contrail in all clips visually intersected with the unique bifurcated section of the “upper” illuminated cirrus cloud crossing the field of view. That region, which is obvious in frames 3 & 4, is indicated by the rectangle in the above frame.

The position of the plume endpoint in each frame is determined by its distance from and position relative to the crossing.

Note that in frame 5, (shown first and repeated) the endpoint (even at wide zoom level) is far beyond (after) the crossing.

UPDATE

Based on the Bob Hope Airport Flight Monitor, the below observations appear to be the CBS Helicopter on 11/8/2010:

17:07:57 General Aviation 3,600 Feet Appears Los Angeles Harbor Reported as plane. Hardly moving. Just turning. Cessna or Helicopter.

17:08:56 General Aviation 3,800 Feet Still over Los Angeles Harbor Must be Helicopter. Very slight horizontal movement to East.

17:09:57 General Aviation 3,900 Feet Still over Los Angeles Harbor Very slight horizontal movement to West.

17:10:58 General Aviation 4,700 Feet Still over Los Angeles Harbor Almost no horizontal movement. Either Helicopter or Goodyear Blimp :>

17:11:00 General Aviation 3,800 Feet Still over Los Angeles Harbor Quick sudden drop in Altitude.

17:11:21 Drops off Display. Gone.

17:11:48 General Aviation 4,000 Feet Appears over Los Angeles Harbor Moved just a little south.

17:12:27 General Aviation 2,600 Feet Still over Los Angeles Harbor Sudden drop. Almost no horizontal movement.

17:12:50 General Aviation 3,700 Feet Still over Los Angeles Harbor Climbed and moved a little to east-northeast.

17:13:45 General Aviation 3,100 Feet Now south Long Beach Harbor Had moved slightly to east.

17:14:13 Drops off monitor.

End Update

Finally, as shown above, the UPS 902 contrail is clearly visible in the NASA photo.  The LA Times, CBS LA, The Early Show, and the edited video are clearly nothing more than a Sensational New Story for the gullible public.  Calling Dan Rather…
